We are greatly saddened at the loss of our brother, Ron Overbeek, who passed Ad Astra on September 9th. He was a charter member of Phi Tau Chapter and was initiated into our Fraternity on October 26, 1968. Here is his Obituary:
Ronald Wayne Overbeek went to be with the Lord on September 9, 2017, after a valiant fight against cancer. A memorial service and celebration of life will be held 1:00 PM, Friday, September 15, at St. Peter and St. Paul Anglican Church in Arlington. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Camp Crucis, 2875 Camp Crucis Ct., Granbury, Texas 76048.
Ron was born April 2, 1949 in Fort Worth, Texas. He attended Arlington Heights High School. He graduated from UTA where he was an active member of Phi Gamma Delta. He met and fell in love with Caron Trimble while at UTA. They married in 1970 and have had a wonderful, full life together.
Ron and Caron raised their two children, Chris and Shari, as active members of St. Peter and St. Paul Church in Arlington where they participated for 30 years. Ron served as a vestry member for many years as the church was built and grew. His love of the Lord, along with friendships at church and through the church league softball games, created lasting memories for all.
Ron became involved with the activities at Camp Crucis in Granbury where his children attended each summer. He chaired the Bishop Iker Golf Tournament which provided scholarship monies for children to attend Camp Crucis. The Lord used Ron’s gifts as a leader in many ways throughout his community.
As new members of Christ the Redeemer Anglican Church of Fort Worth, Ron and Caron met a congregation who embraced their gifts especially Ron’s enthusiasm to serve being an example as a servant leader.
Ron Overbeek will be missed by all. He leaves a legacy of faithfulness to serve the Lord, along with his honesty, his love of golf and golf buddies, his sweet and loving demeanor, and his love of family and his commitment to Jesus Christ. We all have lost a very good man.
Ron is survived by his wife, Caron, son, Christopher Overbeek and wife, Sylvia, daughter Shari Stahl, and husband, Kent, grandsons Kyle and Koen Stahl, sister, Cindy Maris, and husband Gene as well as many nieces and nephews.
