UTA Fiji Undergraduates bagged the win during the 2017 UTA Bed Races. This comes on the heals of their winning of the "Oozeball Competition", and while we are not sure just how significant this event is, it does go to show that the men of Phi Tau are dedicated to winning any competition that comes along. They did the race in just over six seconds, edging out their nearest competitor who came in a few hundreds of a second slower. The University has been hosting this event since sometime in the 1980's.
Who would have guessed that the UTA tradition voted "Most Popular Tradition on Campus" is a match in the mud called "Oozeball" which of course refers to the ankle deep mud which makes up the otherwise familiar volleyball court upon which the game is played. This September, Fiji competitiveness came through by winning the whole enchilada (including some nifty medals) and walking away as the champion Oozeball team on Campus. Oozeball is a 28 year tradition at UTA.
2017 Fall Rush is over, and we are happy to report that the Phi Tau Undergraduate Chapter now has 12 new Pledges who are starting pledgeship this semester. The University wide Rush Season was slightly down this year in turnout, but while exact numbers are not disclosed, the Undergrads were very successful in their efforts, resulting in a high percentage of bids accepted vs. bids given.
